Ranking & Backlink

You can not buy your position on shopulate.com, but you can earn it!

The position of each store is defined by our very own algorithm. The algo is influenced by several criteria and will be recalculated every 24 hours.

As visits and page views are part of the criteria, I ask for a compulsory backlink to measure those numbers.

Each backlink will in fact consist of two links, one of them pointing to your shop overview page, and the other one to the shopulate.com index page.

You will find the code for this link after registration on you profile page.

It?s up to you where you place that backlink, but the footer would be best as all page views will be counted, and therefore have quite an impact on your position. In addition you will have the effect of strengthening the link power to your shop overview page.

The top 4 plus a random fifth shop of each category, will have a direct link to their overview page from the index page. I decided to have that random link also, as I want new and small shops to have a fair chance of development.

As soon as your link is active and you have filled in your store details and products, it will be reviewed and go live.

Your shop will be listed on shopulate.com com as long as your backlink is active and deactivated as soon as the link is removed.

The overall link power of shopulate.com could become enormous, and the goal is to drive traffic, real visitors and of course customers to your online shops through this strength.

Welcome Webmasters,

Let me introduce you to the idea behind shopulate.com

Online shopping is among the fastest growing markets these days. Most businesses do present themselves on their own homepage and an also growing number has expanded their stores to the World Wide Web. The big question especially for small business owners is, how to populate our virtual stores, how to attract customers, how to advertise, and most of all how to be found in the major search engines.
We simply don?t have the big bucks for print or even online campaigns.

As we all know, backlinks are the major key in off-page search engine optimization. There are uncounted sites, blogs and tutorials about this issue, with lots of tips on how to build links and how to find relevant link partners, with one exception ? us the online store owners.
The essential problem if you offer niche products - it?s almost impossible to find sites related to your subject. In the unlikely event to find some, they are most likely your competitors and will do everything but exchange links with you.

So it got very popular among webmasters or online shop owners to get their shops listed in directories/ web catalogues. Besides the big and ?trusted? ones like Yahoo, DMOZ and a few others, there is a fast growing number of small directories. Unfortunately many of them use the few available free scripts over and over again, have useless redirect links, or simply too many links on a single page. The description to your online shop is limited to a few words, many times you get moved to the wrong category or end up in bad neighbourhood or link farm.

As I run an online shop myself, and have encountered the same annoying problems I just described while doing online marketing for my store, I started shopulate.com.
Shopulate stands for - Populate Your Shop.

Basically all kinds of online stores are welcome, even well designed affiliate shops, but you MUST NOT use any "domain privacy service"!
